๐Ÿ“– ๐Ÿ“– ๐Ÿ“– Text (1 Chronicles  5:1-2)

'Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel, (for he was the firstborn; but, forasmuch as he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given unto the sons of Joseph the son of Israel: and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright. For Judah prevailed above his brethren, and of him came the chief ruler; but the birthright was Joseph's:)'

๐Ÿ”ฎ TOPIC: *Prevailing by God's power*

There is authority and power that we can access by living right. Living in the confine of God's will. Brother Reuben was careless about his birth right, he ignorantly threw it away by defiling his father's bed. He might not have known that it will cost him that much. If, he had known he would not have toiled with sin. He had to face the consequences of his ignorance. The birth right was transferred to the sons of Joseph, who happened to be second to the last born. Ephraim took the position of the first born. Listen, authority and power is not given by age, it is given to those who have the capacity to carry them.

The genealogy of the children of Israel was not reckoned after the birthright. In the kingdom, the first can become last and the last can become first. There's opportunity to overtake. You don't relax and relent in your walk with God, because there are people coming behind you with the chance to overtake. This is not about competition, but it's about understanding the kingdom principles. You don't move into the level of greatness by mere chance, you have to be intentional and deligent. 'Since, the day of John the Baptist the kingdom suffers violence and the violent take it by force.'

You must seek the power of God to prevail. Though, Joseph inherit the birthright, but it was said of Judah that, he prevailed over his brethren and from him the chief ruler came. The sceptre was found and preserved in Judah. He prevailed, which might mean there was a contention. Judah wouldn't let go of that heritage of bringing forth the chief ruler. He was not oppotuned to inherit the birthright, but he contended for the throne, where the messianic covenant would be established. It's not enough to have the legacy of the birthright. There's something more that you can contend for in the kingdom.

The power of God is made available for believers to prevail over every circumstances of life. But, we must embrace a discipline life. Reuben lost the birthright through an act of indiscipline. But, if you look at the life of Joseph, you will discover that he was disciplined. He would not afford to end his glorious destiny with portiphar's wife. Joseph ran out naked with only 'boxer' to escape from her evil plot. Sin can weaken your strength to prevail.

๐Ÿ‘๐ŸพPrayer of Faith

Thank you Lord, for your word which you have sent to me. I pray that you will open my eyes of understanding to walk in the path of truth. I receive the power of God to prevail over every circumstances of life, in Jesus name. Amen!
