_'The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. ๐Ÿ”ฎ TOPIC:*The Baptism of Repentance*

John the Baptist began his ministry in the wilderness, as it was written in the book of prophet Isaiah "The voice of one crying in the wilderness prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight." It was necessary for John to sensitize the people at that time about the coming of the messaiah to prepare their hearts ready to receive Him. Though, the crowd were gathered to John in the wilderness, but he was humble to tell them that there is someone greater which comes after him, whose shoe lace he is not worthy to untie.

John did baptize in the wilderness and preach the baptism of repentance for the remissions of sins. The people came from all over the towns and cities to be baptism in water. The baptism of repentance is a sign of turning one's heart to God to escape the pending wrath and judgment of God upon the children of disobedience.

All the people that came from the land of Judea and Jerusalem were all baptized in the river of Jordan confessing their sins. They heed the call to repentance, even the Pharisees and Sadducees who were custodian of the law were also convinced and came to be baptized to show the sign of repentance and John challenged them when he saw them, because he might not have expected them to come. 'But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.(Matthew 3:7-9).

The first step in drawing near to God is baptism of repentance and without it, there won't be the baptism of the Holy Ghost and fire. Remember, Jesus also identify with this baptism by allowing John to baptize Him in water and immediately He came out from the water, the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in the form of a dove. We are sent to also preach the baptism of repentance to prepare the hearts of men, as an habitation for God.

๐Ÿ‘๐ŸพPRAYER OF FAITH

I'm grateful Lord for the grace to draw near to you. Help my heart to always incline to do your will and grant me the grace to preach your word of reconciliation boldly and win many souls into your kingdom, in Jesus name. Amen!
