📖 📖 📖 TEXT (2 Samuel 15:31-34)

 _`And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness. And it came to pass, that when David was come to the top of the mount, where he worshipped God, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat rent, and earth upon his head: Unto whom David said, If thou passest on with me, then thou shalt be a burden unto me: But if thou return to the city, and say unto Absalom, I will be thy servant, O king; as I have been thy father's servant hitherto, so will I now also be thy servant: then mayest thou for me defeat the counsel of Ahithophel._ (2 Samuel  15:31-34).

🔮 TOPIC: *Defeating Evil Counsel*

Ahithophel was David's counselor. He knows so much about him and would have been able to track David down, while he fled away from the palace, because of the desperation of Absalom His son to become King. Absalom has stolen the heart of the people of Israel after him and has gone up to Hebron to be proclaim as king over Israel at the blast of the trumpet and the report have gotten to David. The conspiracy was strong. Absalom has sent for Ahithophel, David's counselor and he has joined the conspirators. 

David knew that there was a serious trouble, because he knew that which Ahithophel was capable of doing. David had to take some steps to defeat the counsel of Ahithophel. The first step was that he prayed. 'O LORD, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.' Prayer is a powerful weapon to defeat evil counsel over your life and family. The Lord can cause confusion in the camp of the enemy for your sake and turn the counsel of your enemies to foolishness. Sometimes the enemy uses those who are close to you in carrying out their wicked operation. Such people needs to be exposed early for you to defeat their evil counsel. 

It's not everyone, who are close to you are true friends. A counselor is different from a companion. It was Hushai who happened to be David's friend that he sent to defeat the counsel of Ahithophel. The counsel of Ahithophel would have finished David, but God turned the counsel of Ahithophel to foolishness through Hushai. We must be spiritually sensitive and strategic in winning life's battles. There are hidden evil counsels, which must be exposed and defeated before they are carried out.

Father, in Jesus name. I thank you for the revelation which I have received from your word. Let every evil counsel against my life, family and ministry be destroyed now in Jesus name. Amen!
