📖 📖 📖 TEXT (Matthew 23:37)
_'O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!'_
🔮 TOPIC:*The Willingness for Discipleship*
The Lord Jesus did great exploits in Jerusalem, but His longing desire was to gather her children, as a hen gathers her chickens, but they would not. They were not willing and the Lord wouldn't force Himself on them. Let's look closely at how a hen gathers her children under the wings to shield them from the hawk, which usually target them as prey. The chickens that doesn't run under the wings of her mother will become vulnerable to the attack of the hawk. The chickens, which are not willing to be gather under the wings for shelter will not last.
It was quite unfortunate that, the Lord Jesus Christ came to his own, but they did not receive Him. 'He came unto his own, and his own received him not.' (John 1:11) They were not willing to be gathered to be Discipled, but only seeking to see miracle and be satisfied with their physical needs. They do not understand that, there is more deep things and revelations in intimacy with Christ. Healing and deliverance will not be something that, they will be searching for occasionally, because it's children's bread. There's maximum protection under the shadow of His wings. 'He that dwells under the secret place of the most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.'
Discipleship is a deliberate decision and it's the process of becoming like Christ, growing day by day into the fullness of Christ. It's the platform designed by God to make men in the image and likeness of Christ. It requires the willingness of every individual to submit to God in this process. It's about self denial and embracing the cross. It's where you experience the dealings of God, which will shape your life and destiny. The Lord is willing to gather you under His wings, as His dear child. Are you will to be discipled? It is the only process through which you can become all that the Lord has destined you to be. Make a choice today to become yoked with Christ and learn of Him daily.
