 _"To the roots of the mountains I sank down; the earth beneath barred me in forever. But you, LORD my God, brought my life up from the pit." (Jonah 2:6)_

The Prophet Jonah was sharing his experience deep down in the water, when he was inside the belly of the fish for three days. He was found responsible for the terrible storm, which has caused people in the ship to lose their properties and almost their lives. He has refused to obey the Lord to go and preach at Nineveh, and save them from perishing by the coming judgement of God.

It was a pathetic experience for Jonah, he sank down into the root of the mountains and the earth beneath hosted him forever. It was such a place where there was no hope for life. This seems to have been the end of life for him. God showed him that, He was stronger than him and that only His will shall prevail. 

The latter part of the story was the great mercy of God on the life of Jonah. He acknowledged that the Lord His God, brought his life from the pit. God showed up in a very hopeless situation, even when he was undeserving of His mercy. Our God is good and so kind, He is merciful and gracious. There's hope for life in God. He chastises whosoever He loves and never give up on us, until we yield to do His blessed will.

I'm grateful Lord for your unending love. Dear Lord, I hope for life in my present situation by the power of resurrection, in Jesus name. Amen!
