We need to perfectly understand faith to know how it works and experience the benefits. The definition of faith is simplified for us in the above verse of the scripture. The first aspect is that faith is confidence in what we hope for. Faith is absent, when you lack confidence about your future. When you have faith, you already gotten the substance to fulfillment. 

Faith produces the confidence to receive every promises of God. It makes it possible to have whatever you hope for, it does not necessarily mean that you have taken hold of them physically, but they can become a reality through the substance of faith. 

The second aspect of faith is assurance. It assures us of things that we do not see. Faith is missing, where there is no assurance. Faith does not fail, it is as sure as the realities of life. It is real and you can experience the tangibility of faith. We are assured of better things to come by faith.

Lord Jesus, I stand in awe of the greatness of your power and glory. I pray for deeper understanding of faith, and may the substance of faith not be missing in my life, in Jesus name. Amen!
