📖📖📖

 _'And she named the child Ichabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel: because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father in law and her husband.' (1 Samuel 4:21)_ 

The mother who was the wife of Phineas named the child in pain and agony, after the death of her father in law and her husband. Israel fled before the philistines and there was a great slaughter. Hopni and Phineas were dead in the process and the ark of the covenant was taken. Eli could not bear the sad news, when they mentioned that the ark of God was taken, he fell from off the seat backward and his neck brake and he died. 

It was about the time of these incidents that her time for delivery came. The moment she heard about all that has happened, she bowed herself and travailed for her pain came upon her. She was also about to die and the woman that stood by her said to her to fear not, because she has born a son but she did not answer.

She named the child Ichabod, because she perceived the glory has departed from Israel, because of all that has happened, especially because of the ark of God that was taken. An individual life, family, church and nation can experience Ichabod, if something important is missing. The glory only rest, where the presence of God dwells. We must ensure to maintain a strong intimacy with God, that His glory may abide and not depart from our lives.

Oh Lord, I give thanks for your mercies endures forever. I pray that, your glory will not depart from my life, family, church and nation. I recover every glory that are gone, in Jesus name. Amen!
