_"You are a lion’s cub, Judah; you return from the prey, my son. Like a lion he crouches and lies down, like a lioness—who dares to rouse him? The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he to whom it belongs shall come and the obedience of the nations shall be his._ (Gen. 49:9-10)

*The Prophetic Mystery*

There was something peculiar about Judah, because the prophecy changed gear when the father got to his turn. It was beyond Jacob's control, not something he might have prepared to say about him, but releasing the prophetic utterance according to God's plan and purpose.
The prophecies finds roots in the word of God. It wasn't mere human words. The prophetic word of God concerning your life defines who you really are. It's until you unlock the prophecy over you, that you can see in the light of your true identity.
Gideon did not see himself in the true identity that he carries, until the visitation of an angel of God. "And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour." (Judges 6:12).
Judah wasn't the first born, but by the divine choice of God, authority was placed in Judah through prophecy. The scepter and ruler’s staff was kept there, until the appearance of Him to whom it belongs. Judah became the custodian of power and authority of the kingdom heritage, throughout many generations. The word of the LORD doesn't fail.
