 *The First Commandment with Promise*

Parents are entrusted with the responsibility to raise godly seeds in the earth. Children are the heritage of the LORD... (Ps. 127:3). Every child belongs to God and they are precious gift from God. Father and mother are expected to guide and lead their children to know God. 

Children are commanded to honour their father and mother. This is the first commandment with promise according to Ephesians 6:2. Honoring those who God has giving charge over us is a secret of living long. You give honour to whom honour is due. 

Prompt obedience to instructions is the ideal way to honour. In today's civilized world, it's quite unfortunate that many children has lost the discipline and virtue of honoring their parents. There's high moral decadence. 

One of the evident sign of perilous times, foretold in the scriptures is 'disobedient to parent.' Nevertheless, parents also must not provoke or lead their children astray, but guide them with the fear of God and deep understanding that they are just a care taker.

Thank you Lord for the instructions in righteousness. We receive grace to keep your command and enjoy the promise that accompanies obedience, in Jesus name. Amen!
