*#Labour and Watch not in Vain*
The fact that we have the required strength and resources to carry out a project does not guarantee success. Any kind of labour that is not God-centred is vanity. The Lord is the master builder of every project and we ought to always consult with Him to seek His help in executing the task at hand.
If the Lord do not keep the city, the watchman wakes up but in vain indeed. The watchman can be a very valiant man, but all is vanity except the Lord is involved and play the role that no man can play. There is no man, that can step into the role of God. The Almighty is the controller general of the whole universe, nothing happens without His consent.
It's important to recognize your role and don't try to trespass to the role that is beyond you. You have to learn to acknowledge God in all your ways inorder to have good success in all your endeavors. No matter how wise a man is, he cannot be wiser than his creator. The end of the life of Ahithophel was a pity, such a great man whose counsel in those days, was as if a man had inquired at the oracle of God both with David and Absalom.(2Sam. 16:23).
David prayed a simple prayer to turn the counsel of Ahithophel to foolishness and indeed later on his counsel against David was not followed, but that of Hushai the friend of David, whom he sent to the company of Absalom to defeat the counsel of Ahithophel. Ahithophel had to hanged himself, because his counsel was not followed. He was so confident in his wisdom and indeed his counsel was right but God turned it to foolishness. 'Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.' (1Cor.1:25). Watch and pray!
