1 Peter 2:22
_"Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 2:23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed."_
*#The Cause For The Cross*
The Bible recorded that Jesus did no sin, neither was deceit (guile) found in His mouth, which would have been the reason that the witnesses of His accusers did not agree, when they were seeking to crucify Him. They were only trying to 'cook up' something to make Him found guilty on the basis of the charges that they raised up against Him.
If, their witnesses agree, Jesus would not have died sinless. But, the charges they brought against Him was not true, so He was not guilty and worthy of death. There was a cause, why Jesus agreed to die on the cross.
Therefore, 'when he was reviled, he reviled not, when he suffered, he threatened not.' He rebuked Peter, when he tried to fight back with the sword, because He understood the main purpose why He had come to the world. 'He committed himself to Him that judge righteously.' He knew that the Father has the final say and not the earthly judges.
All that Jesus went through to the point of death on the cross of Calvary was all for the sake of humanity. "For God so love the world that he gave His only begotten Son..." He bore our sins in His own body. He was given a cup of suffering containing the sins of the whole world. That, we might be dead unto sins and no more a slave under the yoke of bondage, but now live unto righteousness. Moreover, His wounds provided healing for those who believe in His name.

Thank you everlasting Father for the gift of your beloved Son to the world. May the reason for the cross not be in vain in my life and my generation in Jesus name. Amen!
