Matthew  21:9

_And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.  21:10 And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?  21:11 And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee._

 *#Hossana in the Highest*

The scripture that we read yesterday in Zechariah chapter nine was a prophecy about the triumphant entry of King Jesus as the Messiah.

It became fulfilled in today's verse of the scripture in Matthew chapter twenty-one. The people cried out 'Hossana to the son of David.' They were referring to the Davidic covenant. (2 Sam 7). The Jews had long awaiting the Messiah, they were eargerly waiting for their King. Their shout of Hossana at the triumphant entry was very significant. It means they were accepting Jesus, as their Messaiah and King, which indicated hope that he has come to set up God's kingdom.

The word Hosanna comes from two hebrew words, 'Save now or save us, we pray!' The crowd was invoking heaven's blessing upon them by saying in the highest! Though 'the salvation the people wanted that day was political not spiritual.' The Jews wanted the kingdom restored to Israel. The disciples also raised up the matter, when Jesus was about to ascend back to heaven.

_"Acts  1:6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?"_

Jesus came first to do the most important work of salvation for Israel and the entire world, which will eventually result to the expectation of the children of Israel at his second coming. The Lord responded to their quest, 'it is not for you to know the times or seasons which the Father has put in his own power.' (Vs. 7)
He directed their focus on the kingdom assignment of witnessing Christ to other people starting from Jerusalem, after receiving the Holy Ghost.

One thing that is certain in God's plan for this times and season is the baptism of the Holy Ghost in other to prepare the way for the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and his final victory. Remember,

_"And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." (Matthew  24:14)_

The prophecy and actual events of Palm Sunday should encourage and inspire you to live your life for King Jesus.

Hossana in the highest!
