Do not be Desirous of Vain Glory.*

Day 38

♐*Do not be Desirous of Vain Glory.*

📖📖

_"Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another." (Galatians 5:26)_

✍️

It’s a waste of time to pursue vain glory, because it cannot last. Though, it's very attractive and one can be tempted to desire it, but we should not fall for the tricks. It does not come from God, but from the world. There's no better word to describe, it than vanity.

In the second temptation of Jesus Christ in the wilderness, Satan took him up into an exceedingly high mountain and shewed him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them. 'And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.' (Matthew 4:9). It seems to be the peak of the series of temptation for our Lord Jesus Christ, but He had a perfect understanding that only God is to be worshipped. 'Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him. (Matthew  4:10-11).

Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, did not desire the vain glory that the devil presented to Him. He saw a greater glory, than that of the world. He cherished God's presence more than the ephemeral things of the world. Do you daily examine your pursuit in life? What really worth losing your life for? 'For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?' (Matthew  16:26). Why do we envy and provoke one another? Is it not for vain glory, you want to show that you are better than the other persons. It is vanity!

🙏PRAYER

Glory and honour be unto Your name Father, please have mercy on me. Remove every desire for vain glory completely in my life, in Jesus name. Amen!
