30 _"When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit."_

 *Mission Accomplished*

The Lord Jesus Christ made a request through prayer from the Father, in the garden of Gethsemane prior to His crucifixion for the cup to be taken away, but He subjected to the will of the Father and not to His own will.

The cup literally means suffering. The sin of the whole world was siphoned into the cup for the Saviour to take and drink. He tasted suffering and death for sinners, that we might be reconciled unto God. 

The drink was given to Jesus to drink, which was the final accomplishment of His mission on earth. It was possible for the Father to take the cup away, but it was to the fulfilment of all righteousness; that Christ must suffer and die for the sins of the world and rise up again on the third day.

It is finished, that was the last word of Jesus on the cross, after He was given the drink. The moment the mission was accomplished, He bowed His head and gave up His spirit. He has obtained redemption and salvation for us through the sacrifice of His blood, His death, burial and resurrection. It is indeed finished, the Son of God has triumphed. Believe, and be saved.

Halloweth be unto your holy name Lord. Thank you for the victory of the cross. I receive grace to live and walk with the consciousness of the finished work on the cross of Calvary, in Jesus name. Amen!
