Hebrews
_5:13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil._
*#Excercising the Senses to Discern*
Some years back, little crawling baby are normally attracted to the lattern with shade. The moment they move closer, some elderly persons around would say to the person trying to pull the baby back, that let him/her touch it once. The experience will not make the baby to try it another time.
What they are saying in essence was that, when the sense of feeling of the baby is put to use as a result of the stimuli that the incident will send to the brain. Nobody, will need to teach the baby again not to touch it the next time. But, some mothers would never want their baby to have such an experience, so they would keep teaching and teaching. A stubborn baby who will not listen easily, will not have an idea of what you are talking about until he/she can feel the experience, it's a risk worth taking.
The sign of maturity is when we can by the reason of use train our senses to discern both good and evil and no longer needing someone to tell us whether something is good or bad. Those are the elementary principles, that we must have pass as we are growing up both physically and spiritually. There are quite interesting questions that believers ask, such as is it right or wrong to do this? Even, when in their consciences they know the answer but wanting to be justified. It may be normal for young converts but abnormal for those of full age in Christ Jesus. Such, needs strong meat and not milk.
Our senses are God's given gift for discernment. You can see, smell, touch, feel, and perceive through hearing, if something is good or evil. The knowledge of good and evil became activated the moment Adam and eve ate the forbidden fruit which has caused a lot of trouble for human beings. The mind became corrupt through the knowledge of evil. The redemption in Christ Jesus takes care of this, as we submit our mind for him to take charge. He purges our conscience from every dead works and our minds become renewed by his words, which we hear everyday. It fills us always with the knowledge of that which is good and pure, the things which we ought to always punder upon.

Father, I thank you for the knowledge of truth that has come my way. I pray that I will be able to have my senses exercised to discern both good and evil, in order to embrace that which is good for me and avoid that which is evil, in Jesus name. Amen!
